Molecular immunology

This course will provide the ground knowledge and ability to give the student a broad understanding of the immune system and its functions.

Topics to be covered:

  • Components of the non-specific immune system

  • Mechanical barriers  Chemical and biochemical barriers

  • Biology of NK cells,
  •  Polymorphonuclear phagocytes,
  • macrophages, and other major cellular components in the innate immunity, Phagocytosis, Opsonization, Components of the specific immune system,
  • antigen presentation,
  •  B Cells, Immunoglobulin's (Ig) and humoral immune response,
  •  T cells and cell-mediated immune response, MHC molecules
